Wild West Fest
gears up for a fantastic evening to help our Children
Saturday, September 29, 2006
Organizers announced that tickets are now available for the “Wild
West Fest” on Friday, October 27th, 2006. Wild West Fest is an
all-out, Western themed cocktail party on the grounds of the Grand
Bahama Children’s Home and guests are guaranteed lots of tasty food,
drinks & good ol’ fashioned fun.
“We were thrilled with the support our first
event of this kind received. Over 300 attended our ‘Pirate’s
Adventure’ last year and enjoyed great food, drinks, surprises
and entertainment from the children while seeing firsthand where the
donations go – directly to our children and to the running of the
Home,” explains Lady Henrietta St. George, Chairman, Grand Bahama’s
Children’s Home. “As a result, we’ve decided to host ‘Wild West
Fest’ - another fantastic event at the Home - to raise both critical
funds and important awareness right here on the grounds,” she adds.
At the Wild West Fest, guests will once
again be treated to delicious food, drinks and special
entertainment. Line dancing, best “Western Costume Competition,”
Jail n’ Bail and more are all planned as a part of the fun. “We’re
going all out for the Wild West Fest… so grab your partners, throw
on those boots and make your way down to the Children’s Home for a
great evening,” says Shelia Smith, Committee Member.
All proceeds from the Wild West Fest will go
to offset the operational costs of the Grand Bahama Children’s Home
which relies heavily on donations and volunteers from the corporate
and private community in addition to funds received from the
Government. “Each year, we look to the Grand Bahama community to
help keep the Home going,” explains Lady Henrietta St. George.
“Grand Bahama has incredible children at the Children’s Home –
children which need the basics like all children: love, nurturing,
food, clothing, time. That is why this event is so important in our
efforts to raise these much needed funds.”
Tickets for the Wild West Fest are limited –
and are available for $45 in advance or $50 at the door at the Grand
Bahama Port Authority, Bristol Cellars, 17 Shop and Port Lucaya
Office.
There are also ways to help for those who cannot attend the Wild
West Fest – individuals, families and businesses can become patrons
of the Grand Bahama Children’s Home starting at just $50.00 per year
or sponsor a child.
Interested persons are urged to visit the Home’s website
www.gbchildrenshome.com
for more information. The Grand Bahama Children’s Home is currently
home to 19 children between the ages of 9 months and 12 years old.
